Fisher River

Four people in a raft on calm waterGrade: 2–3
Distance: 10km
Time: 4 hours
Get in: Power station
Get out: Camp site across Lake Parangana
Water level: Hydro release required

The Fisher river is a beautiful paddle but can be a bit scratchy and technical at lower levels. Several steep, rocky grade 3 drops offer plenty of excitement and a nice step up from the Mersey. The 1km lake paddle at the end can be a bit of work with a head wind. Take small rafts and remember to get a key as it’s a long walk in without one! (Hydro have a gate over the power station).
